Volunteers Needed for Refugee Play and Learn Thursday Mornings in April!
Each spring the Center for Refugee Services offers a preK program for mothers, fathers, or grandparents and their preschool children. It’s a time for reading together, playing, and learning.
This year it will be hosted at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Thursdays—April 7, 14, 21, and 28. It is from 9:30-11:30am. CRS is in need of volunteers to assist with the program. Maurya Villarreal is the leader and has planned many fun things for the children and parents. We need people to provide snacks for each session, help with the crafts and reading, and sign in the children and parents.
All the lessons are planned out and ready to be followed. We will purchase the materials for the activities. SA Reads donates books.
Here are the volunteer slots:
Craft center
Reading and learning center
Play activities(The two groups of children split between the above centers, and then rotate to the other center.)
Snacks (Somewhat healthy snacks such as bananas, mandarins, and Teddy Grahams are served along with juice boxes.)
Set up/Sign in/Clean up
Children take home books at the end of each session. If you are able to help, please contact the church office at sfc@sfcsa.org, or click here to sign up for variety of options. We guarantee that you will have fun!
